*Population decreases for the City of Millington were directly related to changes in the military population assigned to the former Naval Air Station Memphis (NAS Memphis). In 1993 the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC Commission) realigned and downsized NAS Memphis resulting in a significant reduction in the military population within the City Limits and the transfer of approximately 1,900 acres of the base to civilian use.
