You can hit the links at one of three public courses in Millington.

Edmund Orgill Golf Course: Designated a 'Great Course' by Golf Digest, it features an 18-hole public course and is located at 9080 Bethuel. Phone 901-872-3610 for more information.

Big Creek Golf Club: A putting green, driving range and banquet facilities are available at this 18-hole public course located at 6195 Woodstock-Cuba. Phone 901-358-0020 or 901-353-1654.

Glen Eagle Golf Course: Watch the water hazards at this 18-hole course, which also has amenities of a driving range, grill, bar and locker. Glen Eagle Golf Course is located on Attu Street, NSA Mid-South. Phone: 901-874-5168.

Media Outlets

Residents in Millington are entertained and keep informed of local, regional and world issues with one cable station, six television stations and 34 AM and FM radio stations. There are two weekly newspapers, The Millington Star and The Bluejacket, and a daily metropolitan paper, The Commercial Appeal. Millington Cable TV provides viewers with many stations from which to choose.

Millington Cable TV produces a number of hometown shows each year. These include everything from studio interviews to talent shows to the local high school football games.

The Millington Branch Library, a branch of the Memphis-Shelby Community Public Library and Information Center, is located at 4858 Navy Road.

One special collection of the Millington Branch is land reclamation documents from Naval Support Activity.

The library offers a story time for toddlers and one for pre-schoolers plus a special club for children who are schooled at home. Computers with internet access and word processing capabilities are available for public use.

Recreation

Millington Parks & Recreation Department
With the slogan, "Recreate For Health & Happiness," the Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of activities, services and recreation areas for the residents of Millington. The department's office is located at 7942 Church Street. Phone: 901-872-7735.

The Baker Community Center, located at 7942 Church Street, was built to provide the Millington community with a meeting and banquet facility. The center offers a curtained stage, large auditorium, five meeting rooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Park and Recreation offices are located in the center. Club meetings, including Take off Pounds Sensibly (T.O.P.S.) and AA, senior groups, scout activities, beauty pageants, mature adult dances and fashion shows are a few of the types of activities that Baker Center offers. Classes are offered in aerobics, quilting, and senior exercise. On the grounds are Oak Park and four lighted tennis courts.

Youth Sports

The Millington Parks & Recreation Department offers open registration for youth baseball, softball, soccer, T-Ball, and basketball. Other opportunities in the Millington area are Millington Trojans Competitive Baseball team, Millington Vols Competitive Baseball team, Millington Vols Competitive Spring Soccer, and Shelby youth Sports (SYS), with a program of football, track and field, and cheerleading.

Adult Sports

The Millington Parks & Recreation Department offers men's, women's, and co-ed slow pitch softball for both spring and fall leagues.

Millington has a number of beautiful parks with amenities ranging from walking tracks to grassy play areas to a senior field with a grassy infield. Check the chart below for the features of each park.

Millington YMCA

The Millington Family YMCA, dedicated to putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body, is located at 7725 Navy Circle. Take a dip in the indoor pool or work out in the wellness center. There is a steam room, sauna and whirlpool available.

Keep in shape with martial arts, group exercise programs, water exercise, aquatics, youth and adult sports plus special programs for active older adults. Don't forget to have a fitness testing. A nursery and childcare is offered.
