Our Parks

Tennessee is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of parks that showcase the state’s rich natural beauty, from the mountains of East Tennessee to the river valleys of the West. Whether you are into hiking, biking, boating, or simply relaxing in nature, Tennessee's state and local parks have something for everyone. Parks like Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, near Millington, provide miles of scenic trails, camping areas, and access to serene bodies of water, such as Poplar Tree Lake, perfect for fishing or kayaking.

Across the state, local city parks also play a vital role in community life, offering walking trails, playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas, and event spaces. Parks such as Lions Park and Aycock Park in Millington, TN, supply accessible green space right in the heart of town—perfect for family outings, community events, or just a peaceful stroll after work. Many parks in Tennessee are also equipped with fitness stations, dog parks, and pavilions available for rent, making them ideal for everything from weekend workouts to birthday parties. Whether you are exploring the vast wilderness or enjoying a quiet neighborhood park, Tennessee’s outdoor spaces are designed to help residents and visitors connect with nature and community.

These are parks or reserves offering more nature‑oriented or extended recreation:

  • Meeman‑Shelby Forest State Park — This is a big one (12,539 acres) just north of Memphis, in the Millington area. It offers trails (over 20 miles), camping, cabins, fishing, boating, a nature center, picnic areas, and a lot of wooded, scenic space.
  • Poplar Tree Lake (within Meeman‑Shelby Forest) — For fishing, boating (non‑motorized or electric), paddling, scenic views, etc.
  • USA Stadium & Athletic Complexes — While not a “park” in the natural space sense, these facilities host athletic fields, community sports, and large events. Good for watching or participating in organized recreation.
  • Lions Park — Features a ½‑mile walking trail, picnic tables, playgrounds, restrooms, and a pavilion you can rent. Open dawn to dusk.
  • Aycock Park — Includes a shaded walking trail, playground, tennis courts, gazebo, picnic tables, and restrooms. Also has a pavilion for events.
